The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Blistering performances.
The ancient war between humans and a race of giants is reignited when Jack, a young farmhand fighting for a kingdom and the love of a princess, opens a gateway between the two worlds. Jack the Giant Slayer is not perfect it has some clunky cgi and a bit of cheesy one liners and humor but the over the top action, some terrific cgi effects and the good perfomances from the cast make for a good and enjoyable sci-fi adventure from director Bryan Singer (X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse). (7.5/10)
I know that many people would think that this is nothing new since everybody knows a story about the magic beans. But it is the idea of depicting such a story in an interesting and entertaining way that counts. This movie is a fairy tale in every respect, as it possesses all the required elements - the fantastic surroundings, lots of action, tense atmosphere, harmless jokes, simple-hearted good guys and unscrupulous bad guys with twisted agendas. Once again, nothing new, but everything neatly adapted for modern audiences. As the story goes, there is always something going on, thus the dull moments are rare, but unfortunately, due to such pace, there was no time for a more thorough character development.Other than that, I find this movie nice, amusing and easy to watch, and I therefore gladly recommend it.
A very boring, empty and forgettable movie. The characters are caricatures that do not instill empathy, anger or admiration. There came a time when I did not care one bit if the hero and the girl finished devoured by giant. And then, when a character dies there in the middle of the film, and others cry under their symbolic grave, I could not care less. The film did not offer enough time for to know better that character, and so, I can't have felt sorry for him. Moreover, the only female character throughout history is just a "damsel in distress" - In other words, a useless woman - and this movie is 2013, which shows how uninspired and unoriginal this film is.Here the giant creatures are one-dimensional, no depth, and too stupid villains to gain some kind of reverence to the public. What the hell was the giant rip-off "Gollum of two heads"? It was supposed to be funny? It was supposed to be scary? And why the hell there are only male giant? How the hell they reproduce? How they emerged as society with only males? Why are there no giant children?Yes, if they wanted to show many giants, not just one, they should have been concerned about these simple questions. As we see, this film is so weak that not bothered to bring a credible society to the viewer. This movie It's very bullshit, even for children.
Jack the Giant Slayer is a nice film based on the Jack and the Beanstalk story. This movie is fairly put together with your basic comedy and adventure for the youth, all and all a decent family film. For the most part the graphics were good, the acting was fair for the cast which was selected and of course what script was provided to make a story. For the biggest part of the film which caught my attention the most was size proportions. In many instances when the giants and the humans were up close the size proportions varied a lot. The biggest example is where the giants first appeared in the movie with Jack, Jack was the size of the giant's foot, and in others he was the size of their leg, and again in other instances Jack was the size of their heads. Now other than proportions the film is fairly one point with the graphics and artistry. To best describe the acting styling within Jack the Giant Slayer is to simply think of "Robin Hood: Men in tights".One thing I did like about this movie is it's innuendo of mankind's response in a tragedy. In Jack the giant Slayer while the king and the rest of the king's people are are the ground level awaiting the return of the princess, the whole are turned into a fairground; sounds like man's reality huh? lmao yes, this is the typical thing for humans to do when tragedy strikes is to see who can profit the most.
