Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.

I was very entertained by this one, It has been a long time since Jim Carrey has been in a crazy role like this, even though he is a bi-character it is very good seeing him again as his old self. The main character is Burt Wonderstone played by Steve Carell and his sidekick Anton Marvelton played by Steve Buscemi, it is a very good couple even though they are a strange constellation :) This magician couple have amazed audiences for many years in Las Vegas, but now the younger more mystical and wild Steve Gray played by Jim Carrey have been captivating audiences on the street and that makes Burt Wonderstone seem old and outdated.A lot happen during the course of the movie, some is fun, some is a bit lame, some is extreme and some too much. But all in all there are some very great characters and some very good scenes and it is entertaining all the way in my opinion.

I'll start out by saying that this movie is not really worth watching. It's too bad because of all the great actors and actresses in it but it's just boring and doesn't provide any sort of joy. I'm not sure who wrote the movie but it appeared as though there was very little effort put into it. My kids didn't like it as well so I'm not really sure who the target audience is. Steve Carrell and Steve Buscemi are great actors but this just wasn't meant to be, they look out of place and are not very convincing that they are magicians. The only reason this movie was not an utter failure was because of Jim Carrey. Now this wasn't a Jim Carrey classic performance but it at least injected some comedy into a rather unfunny movie otherwise. I had high hopes seeing all the great actors in this movie but it was truly a dud, one that i will likely never watch again. 5/10.

Writer, Jonathan M. Goldstein, did the screenplay for Horrible Bosses, which I thought was hilarious. What happened here? The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (TIBW for short) just didn't have it. Steve Carrell was moderately funny but there was nothing going between him and Buscemi. I don't know that Buscemi has ever had such a large role in a comedy before as he was very underwhelming in this one.The movie wasn't terrible, it was average. It was a tame and tempered movie about a big shot magician in Vegas who has to reinvent himself to stay relevant. It's about learning to adapt while searching and at last finding your initial drive. It's a feel good story that kinda pokes fun at the likes of Chris Angel and David Blane. There were a few LOL moments but it is mostly mildly funny humor.

As many people here often say, "not quite sure why this movie gets the rating it currently has". This is a good movie. Great movie, no, but good and honestly funny movie? Yes! Steve Carell is one of Hollywood's more consistent actors and funny men. Jim Carrey is as well. It was interesting to see two comedians with completely different approaches to comedy on the same screen. It works. Olivia Wilde does a wonderful job. But what's special about this movie is the writing and how truly funny it is at times. I had several 'laugh out loud' moments and for me, a seasoned comedy movie aficionado, that's saying a lot. Maybe the movie just spoke to me at some level, but I still think it's worth a watch. Maybe it'll speak to you too.
