If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

A few comic strip characters and stories in movies age well, or don't age at all over time. Some have been made into animated films, others into real life films, and others a mix or combination. Charles Schulz created the "Peanuts" comic strip in 1950, and Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the gang are still endearing to adults and kids of all ages well into the next century. Old and newer films alike still appeal to people and are likely to well into the future. Other comic strips may last a long time in print, but seem to have a narrower window for film. "Garfield," the movie, is in that group. The comic strip remains popular nearly 20 years into the 21st century, and the 2004 movie was a box office hit. It combined real life and animation. The movie deviated in places from the characters in the comic strip. While okay and enjoyable close to the turn of the century, the film has lost its gloss for subsequent audiences. The plot and dialog are dated, and the characters and humor just don't ring in modern times. Most adults today will find the humor blasé. The movie gets five stars because it still may entertain the very young generation. Even if the kids don't get the dialog or humor of the script, they will enjoy the antics of the world's fattest, laziest cat. Here are a couple of funny lines that still bring chuckles. Garfield, watching Odie chase his tale, says to himself, "Yeah, I think I just may have a mental advantage on this guy."Garfield, later going to rescue Odie, says to himself, "Hey, nobody gets to treat my dog like that except me."

You have all been kids once!only because its for kids, that don't mean its a piece of trash! This movie is great... I love the comic- but OK! The movie might not be as grand as the comic, but I mean, it was still a great film. The plot might not be as great as the comic. So, basically, Jon adopts this little mutt,Jon calls him Odie, he has more talent than Garfield, this Happy Chapman guy kidnaps him, everyone is looking everywhere, Garfield goes to find him, falls into a truck full of lasagna, finally rescues Odie and everyone lives happily ever after. This is NOT a piece of sh*t.

Garfield is a great family movie with great humor and a good storyline.Garfield is without a doubt my favorite comic strip character,I would usually read him at the back off the paper and I also use to love the series,I think that Bill Murray definitely had the perfect voice for Garfield. This movie shows you the origin of how Odie and Grfield first met, showing that Garfields owner John got the dog off Liz and Garfield being very jealous at the start. After John takes Odie to a dog show.A man called Happy Chapman wants to use Odie to advertise his dog products,Odie gets out of the house one night and goes missing and Happy Chapman finds him and does exactly what he had planned to do.Garfield see's Odie on TV but John and Liz are unaware,Garefield decides to head on a journey to save the dog who he realizes he is missing.

First of all i thought it was display of modern brilliance on the big screen.I am grateful for the big screen to aptly cater for Garfield's witty one liners and lightning lasagna themed puns.My kids thoroughly enjoyed this film and having grown up with the cartoons i feel it was loyal to them in the humor. The main brilliance was the acting by the characters Jon and Happy Chapman and the animation of Garfield WAS truly the bees knees.Despite its low budget and short running time, approximately 12 minutes, Garfield and the crew never fail to disappoint. We see when Garfield loses Odie to Chapman that he is regretful of his actions and desires to get him back, with the help of Nermel, a rat that has an unfortunate history in substance abuse, namely cookies. And of course, Jon and Liz do their utmost by putting up posters. This humorous, hilarious film is absolutely magnificent and you would be crazy not to like it. Highly recommended - 10/10.
