a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

There might be nothing original about it, even the title sounds a hundred years old, it´s a nostalgic movie alright but, although it might not be good enough to revitalize the romantic screwball comedy, it oddly feels like a breathe of fresh air among its contemporaries, paradoxically indeed. It does maintain a fast pace throughout, well, at least until right before the climax, and Peter Bogdanovich shows experienced skill, but the so-so script comes really together thanks to its outstanding cast. It´s seriously well put together, every single role is spot-on. It´s ultimately a film about acting and everyone is enjoying the ride in a contagious way. Just when I thought the cast was good enough there´s a cameo by Michael Shannon, and it´s not even the only surprising cameo, let´s leave it at that. The plot centers around Imogen Poots´character, the main reason I watched it in the first place, and I´m very happy about that. Light hearted and funny enough, there should be a big audience able to enjoy it without cynicism.

What you can expect more from a film, about a theatre play?!? Not just, that everyone is mentioning how it resembles great ideas of Woody, that I was expecting him to pass by in the crowd (and he is definitely somewhere there), not just, that is "fairytalie", as it gets (yes, that one, as good), not just that it's good as well remake, or inspiration based as crazy mad Birdman, not just, that the casting is brilliant and very articulate, not just the plot is one galloping horse ride from the very first to the VERY LAST moment, but there is a catch at the very end at last! So to everyone, who is bi...moaning about anything in this OPUS, squirrel you! Peace!Homage á this film

I really tried to like this movie. It seems like it would have everything that you would like in a film.I endured more than half of it even though it reminded me of a really bad Woody Allen movie and I loved Woody Allen's 70s films. I was actually really upset at my husband for spending over $1 for renting this piece of crap from the Redox. We could not finish it. I LOVE Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, but this was one of the worst movies I have attempted to watch in the past several years. The time I wasted on trying to like this movie is time that I can never get back. Seriously, watch an episode of Hoarders or Family Feud as they are far better than this movie.

I am really happy Peter Bodganovich have been able to made another movie; but sadly it wasn't successful and perhaps sometimes too old fashioned.A call girl with dreams of becoming an actress; meets sweet customer. They have a romantic evening (and sex) and he offers her $ 30K to start a new life and leave prostitution. She accepts and next day; after quitting her job goes to an audition and the play director happens to be his magnanimous customer. From there; a lot of things start happening and a lot of characters some of them well known now or from another time get small and usually funny parts. This is a comedy of errors; people encounter other people in the worst moment and somehow there is a relation between them. Trying to explain anymore will kill the surprise; but let's just say that the fun keeps going until losing steam near the end. However; there is a last minute twist that keeps the movie on the real world and present one last cameo (of the many this movie has).Almost everybody does a nice job; however Jennifer Aniston steals the show by far as an uptight psychologist who needs more help than she can provide (and in fact does not help anybody too much). The fun peaks on every one of her scenes. It is not a great movie; but is far better that most of the comedies released this year.
