The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

The ending made up for the terrible acting and atmosphere at the beginning. Throughout the movie the main character did nothing rationally and could've solved her problems swiftly. The mystery that surrounds the death of the mother was intriguing and the father's new girlfriend was mysterious as well. Overall the buildup could've been better and the suspense was stifled by the acting and dialogue.

The only good thing I can say about this movie is Elizabeth Banks, but that still doesn't help this film out at all. She should just stick with comedy and what she is good at because after seeing this, horror is definitely not her strong suit. And the two girls that played the sisters were just horrible actors. I watched this with my girlfriend and every scene I could call out what was going to happen next and 99% of the time I was right. Other than them, the plot points had nothing to do with each other and this movie made no sense at all.. Horrible movie. The 40 year old virgin was more scary than this. Do not watch unless you want to be disappointed.....

THE UNINVITED is ANOTHER redundant remake of an Asian horror, the original in question this time being the Korean A TALE OF TWO SISTERS. If it wasn't for the original movie, this wouldn't be bad at all, coming across as a mildly spooky horror/mystery combo with a decent twist at the end.Sadly, having seen the original first (thank goodness) I can report that this is the inferior film in every respect. It feels like it's been dumbed down for US audiences, the narrative simplified and the mystery reduced to its most basic levels, a simple whodunit-style murder yarn with a couple of ghostly scenes thrown in for good measure. The problem with THE UNINVITED is that it fails to be scary - the couple of ghost scares we're treated to having been too obviously copied on the likes of THE GRUDGE - and the acting isn't much to write home about. I didn't mind Emily Browning's protagonist so much, while David Strathairn is great given the right role (as in THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM) but wasted here while Elizabeth Banks is completely over the top and detracts from it. The twist ending would have been great if we hadn't seen it all before, leaving THE UNINVITED far from the worst of the remakes out there, but hardly a great movie in itself.
