It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Overall the film brings in an enjoyable experience to fans of historical accuracy and to fans of emotional presence that is displayed on screen. I myself was very intrigued by the aspect of showcasing the anguish expressed by southerners in the film. How their disappointment and drive for the conflict between the North and the South was surely not yet over. Also in terms of the film in relation to Abraham Lincoln, I feel that this was done with superb accuracy. From the representation of his assassination to his absolutely mournful journey to his final resting place of Springfield, Illinois; it was all handled with great care. And although I was looking forward to seeing more of Lincoln in this film, I felt that attributes of his personality weren't left off screen but rather expressed by James McAvoy's character, Frederick Aiken. With Aiken defending Mary Surratt, played by Robin Wright, we see the heavily emotional and unpredictable events transpire between the two of them and practically all the people of Washington D.C. Furthermore it somewhat reminded me of a film titled Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) starring Henry Fonda as Lincoln. It contains similar characteristics such as the setting of a courtroom as well as the interesting and shocking dialogue performed between characters throughout. Finally, if you find the film to be slow or boring, than I believe you are not in search of the fantastic arrangement of displaying honor, emotions, and faith that is similar to other films involving the idea of President Lincoln and the Civil War.

The movie was good for anyone with interest in history. It follows real events and keeps mostly to the actual story. A few things are added in to the movie, probably to make it easier to understand. I enjoyed watching The Conspirator. I thought the acting was good, the plot was not boring, and kept me entertained through the whole thing (which is difficult for some movies like this). It made me feel invested into the characters and made use of a flashback here and there to fill me in on what actually happened as opposed to what the characters were saying. Even though sometimes I was confused when was the present sometimes. Overall I was satisfied with the film.

I thought that The Conspirator was great movie and you don't need to be a big Civil War buff to enjoy it. I had never real heard or been taught much about what happened with the trials after Lincons assassination. After watching the movie I did a little more research online and thought that it was a very interesting story and the movie does a great job of telling it. There are some minor historical inaccuracies, it tells of the trial for the conspirators and specifically about Mary Surratt. I think that this is a story that everyone should know and I'm not sure why they don't teach or talk about what happened more in school. Overall I thought that it was a great movie that every one should see, especially if you are interested in the Civil War.

This drama is a good depiction of the controversy and emotion that surrounded Lincoln's assassination. In this movie you get to experience a new perspective of the Union being corrupt and unjust. I decided to watch this movie due to a history project. I was surprised at how involved I became in the movie. The characters were semi relatable, and you really wanted the main character to win the court case. Although court scene after court scene can become boring if you look into the underlying tone of good versus evil in the movie, you will be captivated by the struggle. The development of the plot started out confusing and the viewer may not be able to comprehend all the characters introduced and their roles. However, by the end of the movie the main characters are obvious and the viewer will become attached to them. I overall enjoyed the movie, however, I like feel-good movies with a happy ending. The end of this movie left me angry and disappointed.
