It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

This is a fun movie that the whole family should see! In the movie, the main characters from the museum travel to Washington DC, Larry unfortunately bringing the tablet with him, which brings everyone at the museum they're at to life. We have Amelia Earhart, played by Amy Adams, which I loved, as well as the statue of Abraham Lincoln coming to life. Unfortunately, the bad guy is rather annoying. There's some great humor, fortunately without the monkey doing any business. I don't see how this has 5.9/10 stars. I've detected that on IMDb, 8/10 stars and up means the movie is superior; the range of 7/10 stars means it's great; and the range of 6/10 stars and under means it's bad. This movie isn't exactly a wonderful movie that you'll want to watch over and over again, but it's good and worth watching. It should be in the range of the late 6/10 stars or early 7/10 stars. If you haven't watched it, you should. It's worth a shot.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009): Dir: Shawn Levy / Cast: Ben Stiller, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Hank Azaria, Robin Williams: Every bit as stupid as the first film with virtually the same plot structure. Ben Stiller left his night watchman days to be an inventor until he learns that his old museum pals are being shipped away. He springs into action to save his historical friends plus battle new enemies. Directed by Shawn Levy with creative special effects where historical figures and creatures come to life. This of course, has been done before in better movies. Levy has directed better comedies such as Just Married and Cheaper by the Dozen. Stiller sleepwalks through a role that seems more like a recital this time out. He runs the same drill, encounters similar problems, and saves the same people. It is enough to draw a yawn from the best of us. Amy Adams appears as Amelia Earhart but the role is more or less a prop. Owen Wilson and Hank Azaria also return as miniatures but their bickering is getting tiresome especially since their comic talents have been employed to greater success to better films. Robin Williams also returns as Theodore Roosevelt riding in on that horse with no script. The special effects are much better this time around but to what degree? Bigger budget doesn't necessarily mean better film. In this case it's just as bad. Score: 2 / 10

I just looked at the review of the original Night at the Museum I wrote back then and found out I gave it a 6. Well, this sequel gets the same rating as I found it as silly and a little funny as that one. This time, Ben Stiller's character has left the New York museum and become some kind of entrepreneur who's appearing on TV with the likes of George Foreman. The characters from the first one are about to be moved to the Smithsonian and so when that happens and some kind of trouble is again brewing... I'll stop there and just say that many of the historical characters being depicted are pretty amusing if not hilarious and I liked the way many creatively visual ways are used to depict many art exhibits coming to life. So in summary, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian was pretty entertaining. P.S. The trivia on this site confirmed what I suspected about Hank Azaria's portrayal of an Egyptian figure: He was inspired by Boris Karloff when picking a voice for the character.

The first film was far from spectacular, but it was tolerable and a bit of fun to watch. I came across the second movie when it was shown on television and its terrible. It has been done once and wasn't brilliant, the producers really shouldn't have bothered with number two. The whole film is filled with terrible far-fetched acting. Every line just tries to include a joke that is not even remotely funny and frankly, leaves me with a blank expression on my face the whole time. The whole movie is just "trying too hard". Too see some pretty famous faces in it, is a shame as it is a real downfall in their career. i'm surprised I actually ended up watching the whole movie, maybe I was hoping it would get better. Evidently not! It is saying something when you are watching this movie with kids and they even turn round to you and say "Is this meant to be funny?" 1/10
