All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

.Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

I remember having a comic book on Captain America that I got from my doctor a long time ago (and I still have it too), though I wasn't big on superheroes back then. But after Sam Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man film, I was hooked. And considering Captain America is part of the Avengers, it really got me interested in all the characters. It was my duty to discover the origins of the members of the Avengers. Set during the World War II era, we get the origins of a young man who is not soldier material but gets certain enhancements due to a super soldier serum. And he gets his wish and becomes the poster boy for the war effort on the Allied side. As a movie, it has lots of familiar faces, including Tommy Lee Jones (from Men in Black), Hugo Weaving (of Lord of the Rings and The Matrix), and Richard Armitage (of the Hobbit films). Plus there are lots of science-fiction elements in this movie that fit in nicely with the period. I wasn't bored in the slightest. Plus, I like World War II era period pieces. This movie is part of the puzzle that makes up 2012's Avengers film. See it just to see how Captain America fits into the story. It's really good.

As someone who loves him some superhero origin stories, and as someone who thinks Captain America is a great character if done right, this movie disappointed me on too many levels. I always felt baffled whenever I heard people say that this movie made Captain America awesome, or that it did an impossible task of making this character work. Because I want to ask them, "Did it, though?" In my opinion, no, it did not. The biggest problem with this movie is the clear lack of direction. The movie figures out what to do with its characters for the first hour, but then it completely loses its direction and turns into complete mess. And not only that, but the worst thing about this movie is how it easily missed an aspect that would've easily made its titular character stand out more - the contrast. The contrast is what this movie lacks. As Christopher Nolan once put it while describing his take on Batman, he said that his main intention was to make the world around Batman feel real, ordinary. Thus, when Batman comes to life, his character will stand out more, because the character will be the most extraordinary being his world. The First Avenger doesn't have that, because its world feel completely inauthentic and over-the-top. So when Captain America comes to being, he doesn't feel extraordinary. He feels like everything else. If the world around him was more authentic, darker. and hopeless, his bright and optimistic character would feel more noticeable. But as it is, he's just another wacko in this big circus of over-the-top visuals and corny bad guys.

A few flaws but a great story. It was a very emotional movie with the death of Bucky ( who will come back ) and the freeze of Captain himself.
