Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

Of the three movies in this Mordock Combustion series, I find this one the most watchable. I only had to watch this movie once to understand what was going on. It was entertaining, but I still have not figured out what the resolution of all of the story lines at the end. I thought that this might be due to poor translation, so I watched the movie in the original Japanese with subtitles and found no help there. What I found enjoyable was the music of this production. I am partial to "Amazing Grace," but the end theme over credits, "Tsubasa," was captivating. The singer starts out over light music that builds through the song, so she has to have a good voice to pull that off, especially at the beginning of the song. After listening to the theme song, several times, I did research and found that the voice actor, Megumi Hayashibara, was the vocalist. She also was one of the duet that sang "Amazing Grace." Also, the end credit theme song, "Tsubasa" made it to the Tower Records top 10 chart at Crunchy Roll, three years to this month that this review is being written. Because of the music of this movie, this is something that will make it into my collection of movies that I will be viewing over and over again.
